Title: The Queen of the Big Time
Author: Andrea Trigiani
I read this book while sitting on the toilet. When we were in Yellowstone, I read in the bathroom while the kids fell asleep in the hotel room, and over the course of three nights, I had plenty of time to read a whole book! In some ways, The Queen of the Big Time was very satisfying-- it was a light and mainly happy story of Italians in a small Pennsylvania town who worked hard to make their lives better. But it was sort of fluffy and bubblegummy too. I felt at the end of it like I feel when I read one of the Shopaholic books, like I've invested too much of my precious time reading something that didn't give me the intellectual rewards I wanted.
