A mile in my shoes

This post might be inspired by Isaac, who has been emptying my closet and spreading its contents all over my bedroom and the playroom every day this week. And I should give props to Blackbird, over at say la vee, who posted some lovely pictures of shoes a few days ago. And Cyl, at As It Happens, deserves some of the credit, for asking me and a few others to post about our favorite color. Since I always have a hard time coming up with a punchy answer to that question, I'll say brown or black, and show some examples of why I like those colors.

But the real reason for the post is Marshalls. I was there returning some extra decorative plates this morning. I got $6.34 back for the plates and immediately walked back to the shoe department and left the store with two new pairs (in my defense, one pair was not for me). So if my large-scale obsessions are running, reading and chocolate, then I'd definitely have to say I have a small-scale obsession with shoes. Here are some examples:

31 flavors (um, er, pairs):

I have run 500 miles, and then I ran 500 more (recently retired running shoes):

I've had both of these pairs since high school (kept around for the hikes we take once or twice a decade and creek stomping up at my in-laws' cabin):

Four pairs that are going in the garbage today:

A pair I should throw away but can't (Dansko clogs. Had 'em since college. Can't walk for crap when I wear them but I love them anyway):

Four pairs I feel sexy in:

The pairs I've gotten since Christmas (including the infamous beaded flats, got the purple ones in the middle today):

an obsession in miniature (don't even get me started on how much I love baby shoes!):
