I'll be posting about our big weekend later today, but I wanted to show off my projects from this weekend while I'm downloading pictures.
First of all, frugalmom linked me to this website, which shows how to make babylegs out of women's knee high socks. So I make some this weekend. Six of the pairs are for Maren and six pairs are for my sister-in-law's baby, who is due in May. They really are as easy as the website says-- I completed all 12 pairs in less than a couple of hours, which is just about as long as it took for me to decide which socks to buy. Target has the cutest Valentine and Easter knee socks in the store right now.
Here's a picture of Maren this morning, sporting her homemade babylegs:
Char asked me to post pictures of the hooter hider I made. I actually made another one over the weekend, for the same pregnant sister-in-law, but I didn't get it photographed before I gave it to her. I know some people say that nothing screams nursing mother like a hooter hider, but in my opinion, nothing screams nursing mother like your boob hanging out for all the world to see. I was so glad I had it over the weekend and could nurse Maren freely on the couch around all of our company. It was also almost ridiculously easy. Each one took me less than an hour to sew, and that includes the decorative overstitching I didn't know my machine was capable of.
Here's a closer view of the boning at the front and the ties:
