Book #42: Stone Tables

Stone Tables

Title: Stone Tables

Author: Orson Scott Card

I think I'm finally done with Orson Scott Card's biblical historical fiction novels. It's been a while since I finished this one, but I really liked the first 3/4 of the novel, when Moses grows up and is raised by the Pharaoh's daughter, leaves Egypt after killing an Egyptian, marries Zeforah, and returns to Egypt to confront the new Pharoah, his former protgege and arch-rival. I felt like Moses's inner struggles with his own identity (Egyptian v. Israelite) were very interesting and thought the tests with Pharaoh were pretty gripping too. But  after so much intense detail in certain pivotal parts of Moses's life, I felt like devoting only 75 pages to the Israelites' 40 years in the wilderness was a bit of a short-shrift.
