Book #29: Dead Until Dark

Dead Until Dark (Southern Vampire Mysteries)

Title: Dead Until Dark

Author: Charlaine Harris

Sukie is a telepathic waitress at a roadside bar in rural Louisiana when Bill, a vampire, walks into her life. She's exhaused by reading everyone's thoughts and loves that she can't read Bill's, and soon they fall in love. But there's a problem-- women in her town start turning up dead, with bite marks all over their necks.

Does the premise of the book sound weird? Well, Dead Until Dark is definitely quirky. It's a quick read and relatively fun and interesting, but it is sort of weird. It's the first book of five or six in the Southern Vampire Mystery series. Halfway through the book I tentatively planned to read the rest of the series, but by the time I was done, I was a little bit tired of hearing how great sex with a vampire could be.

Summary: It's a fun and campy read, but it might just make your hot for a vampire.
