Book #17: Fingersmith
Title: Fingersmith
Author: Sarah Waters
I got this book in with a bunch of books my mom's sixty-something friend from Relief Society passed on when she was done reading them. The back cover is full of praise, and it's a fast-paced novel with lots of pretty shocking plot twists. Susan and Maud are young women living in Victorian England who are both searching for freedom and fortune. But you might imagine my surprise when Susan and Maud start getting it on! Sure enough, the Borders cataloging sticker on the back cover lists it as "lesbian fiction." I kept reading it. It was a great story. And when I got online to find the picture at Amazon, I noticed that it has recently been made into a movie. This is a period piece I bet I could get my husband interested in watching with me. And actually, it's such a fun, twisted sort of story that he might not just want to watch for the girl on girl action.
